Projects

Rabia’s novel-in-progress, Café on Fillmore, is told from the perspective of a young pakhtun woman who comes to the US to study and live the life of an artist, and then when her visa is terminated, is forced to rapidly dismantle the life she spent years building abroad. Split between California and Pakistan and told through conversations with friends, the novel holds a lantern up to culture, migration, and class identity, and ultimately interrogates what we are willing to sacrifice for art and for love.
